SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you specify how user interfaces that comprise groups of fields are displayed in Manager Self-Service (WDA). For example, this affects the following user interfaces:

  • Short Profiles used in Manager Self-Service (WDA):
  • Employee Short Profile that is launched from the Employee Information application (SAP_MSS_GENERAL_PROFILE)

  • Organization Short Profile that is launched from the Organizational Information application (SAP_MSS_ORGANIZATIONAL_PROFILE)

  • Position Short Profile that is launched from the Position Information application (SAP_MSS_POSITION_PROFILE)

  • Employee Short Profile that is launched from the Team View application (SAP_MSS_TEAMVIEW)

  • Employee Short Profile that is launched from the Talent Profile (SAP_TALENT_SHORT_PROFILE_LARGE)

  • Employee Short Profile that is launched from the Compensation Profile (SAP_COMPENSATION_PROFILE)

If you define customer configurations, you can specify which fields are to be displayed in which sequence. You can also give the following layout information:

  • Header area of the talent profile
You can enter your own field labels that overwrite the standard field label.
  • Start a new group
You can group fields. The groups are displayed as follows:
  • In the short profile, they are separated by a blank row, meaning that the groups are arranged under each other.

  • In the header area, there is a new column for each new group, meaning that the groups are arranged next to each other.

  • Group header
You can give the individual field groups titles. You must assign the group headers to the first field of a field group. However, the group header is not displayed in the header area of the talent profile.
  • Display in table format
You can specify that the field label is displayed in a separate row with the list of values below it.
  • Hide empty fields
You can specify whether a field is to be displayed even if it does not have any content. For more information, see Hide Field Without Value.
Note
All fields or columns that you add are displayed in addition to the fields or columns available in the standard SAP system.
The following applies to the short profiles:
  • The system always displays the employee's name in the short profile.

  • In the Configure Display of Photo Customizing activity, you specify whether the short profile also contains a photo of the employee.

  • The fields that are specified in the configuration for the corresponding short profile (for example, Talent Group, Mobility, Competencies and Development, and Career Goal) are displayed below the employee's name.

The system displays the first field of the configuration (in the example, the talent group) directly below the employee name and without a field label. It displays the remaining fields (in the example, Mobility, Competencies and Development, and Career Goal) below the first field and with field labels.
Even if all of these fields belong to the same field group (in the example, the Talent Data field group comprises all four fields), the first field is displayed outside of the field group and directly below the employee's name. The title of the field group is displayed above the second field (in the example, above the Mobility field).
  • In the short profile for talents and in the short profile for talents in the side-by-side comparison, the system also displays the calibration grid icon.

No fields are fixed in the header area of the talent profile. In the Configure Display of Photo Customizing activity, you specify whether the header area contains a photo of the employee.

If you want to use your own fields in customer configurations, you must add these fields to the field selection catalog. For more information, see Add Fields to Field Selection Catalog.

The standard SAP system contains standard configurations that follow the SAP_* naming convention for all user interfaces.

  1. Create a configuration in the customer namespace for each user interface that you want to adjust to meet your requirements.
  2. Assign the fields that are to be displayed to the configuration and define the sequence of these fields, if required also specify additional layout information.
  3. Assign your configuration to the corresponding user interface:

In the short profile for talents in the side-by-side comparison, you want to display the same fields as in the standard SAP system, but without group headers. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Copy the standard configuration SAP_TALENT_SHORT_PROFILE_LARGE to the customer namespace.
  2. Delete the group headers for your customer configuration.
  3. In the Customizing activity Assign Configuration to User Interface, assign your customer configuration instead of the default configuration to the parameter TALENT_SHORT_PROFILE_SIDEBYSID.
