SAP E-Book

In this activity you define synonyms for IATA locations. These synonyms are only used for hotel availability querys.

If the trip destination in the travel plan (or the destination entered as the 1st destination in the general trip data) is maintained in this table, the corresponding IATA location(s) will be provided for selection in the hotel availability query.

In addition to this, the text entered in the name field (if created) will be entered in the hotel name field for the availability query. This allows you to search for hotels that include this text (either in

their name or the hotel address information).

The hotel location will only be determined if no hotel bookings or reservations/requests exist for the travel plan.

Employees from your company regularly travel to Walldorf, Germany. However, Walldorf is not an IATA location: The closest larger city is Heidelberg.

To allow users to find appropriate hotels by entering 'Walldorf' you would make the following table entries:

WALLDORF HDB WALLDORF

When user enters 'Walldorf' as the trip destination, and chooses 'Hotel' the location name ' Heidelberg' is entered in the location field and 'Walldorf' is entered in the name field.

If the availability query is started with these entries, the external reservation system will return a list of available hotels that include > LS>walldorf (and possibly also 'Walld', 'Waldorf' and so on) in their address. The user can then select the hotel required from the list.
