SAP E-Book

Note, you only need to complete this step if the airline required for a specific trip route doesnt appear in the flight availability query.

In this activity, you specify the airlines that you want to include in the availability query for a specific trip route.

This allows you to guarantee that the availability query searches for flights that are operated by the airline specified here. Trip routes and airlines are assigned to a predefined trip rule, which will assigned to a trip profile in a later IMG activity.

You set up the flight specific trip rule according to the following criteria:

  • Provider of flight-specific travel services
  • Start location (country, region or IATA location)
  • Destination location (country, region or IATA location)
  • Flight rule validity: Trip to destination or both directions

The flight-specific trip rule "RRFlug" has the following characteristics:

  • Trip rule:
    RRFlug (Flight trip rule)
  • Provider code:
    LH (Lufthansa)
  • Geographical type:
    0 (IATA location)
  • Departure:
    FRA (Frankfurt)
  • Geographical type:
    2 (Country)
  • Destination:
    IN (India)
  • Direction:
    In both directions

All flights from Frankfurt to destinations within India and from India to frankfurt, that are undertaken with the travel service provider Lufthansa, are assigned to the flight-specific trip rule "RRFlug".

You have specified the corresponding travel policy in sectionTrip rules - Define flight.

You should only enter an airline in the trip rule, if you have specified that flight connections provided by the required airline should not appear in the flight availability query display.

Entering a specific airline for a specific leg of a flight results in an additional availability query using the airline specified in the reservation system. Additional queries have a negative effect on system performance and should, therefore, only be used in special cases.

If you have entered airlines using this step, the specific requirements

are taken into account by the system using certain control parameters.

This takes place in the IMG activity

Specify Control Parameters for Queries.

  1. Choose New entries.
  2. Choose a trip rule.
  3. Specify the corresponding characteristics for the trip rule chosen.

The trip rules, maintained here must be assigned to a travel profile in the IMG activity Travel Profile → Assign Trip Rules to Profiles → Define Provider Restrictions.
