Fare-Driven Availability Query

The fare-driven availability query for flights enables users to search in the reservation system for lowest-priced flight connections to the requested destination. If a low-cost carrier consolidator system is connected, you can also search for Internet offers. Such offers are added to the connections found from a global reservation system.

The fare-driven query can be started in the Travel Planning transactions with the Best-Price Flightpushbutton. You can configure this query method in this Customizing activity.

You can activate or deactivate the fare-driven availability query for flights for each user group in the activity Define Price and Availability Strategies.

Settings

You make the settings for the fare-driven availability query based on the travel profile and the validity period.

You specify here whether the search for best-priced flight connections should:

  • Include onlycertain providers
  • Notinclude certain providers
  • Include only direct flights

You can make further restrictions by specifying whether certain providers should or should not be included:

  • For a certain flight segment
  • With a certain flight class

If you do not specify a provider but do specify a flight segment and a flight class as selection criteria, those restrictions apply to all providers defined in the system.

For fare-driven availability queries in the reservation system, you can only specify different selection criteria for a maximum of three providers.

Note

Not all options may be available with availability queries in a low-cost carrier consolidator system. For example, low-cost carriers do not normally offer all flight cabin classes.

  • The airlines available in the reservation system are correctly defined in the standard system. You can define additional airlines in the activity Define Airlines.

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Enter the Travel Profileto which you want the restrictions to apply.
  3. Specify a time period for the restrictions.
  4. Specify the following:
  • Provider code

  • Geographical origin and destination (optional)

  • Flight cabin class (optional)

  1. Specify whether the system should include or exclude the selection criteria (selection options Consider exclusivelyor Exclude).
  2. Specify whether other classes should also be included in the query.
If you select Consider exclusively, it is advisable to activate this field to increase the hit rate for best-priced flight connections.
  1. Specify whether restricted flight classes should be included. (optional)

You can use this Customizing activity to force the use of low-cost carriers for certain routes.

For example, if you want to exclude connections from a global reservation system for a particular route and allow only a certain low cost carrier (from a low cost carrier consolidator system), specify that carrier here for exclusive use.
