In this Customizing activity, you define the conditions of use for work allowances.

Work allowances are linked to a group of specific social insurance (SI) reductions. Work allowances are a means by which the employment office contributes to an employee's net salary, provided that the employee fulfills certain conditions.

You have customized the reductions to which the work allowances are linked; these attributes are used when the allowance is processed.

If an employee is eligible for a work allowance, you need to ensure that the Social Insurance Belgium (0100) infotype has been maintained with the correct start date.

You use this activity to define various Activa conditions, as follows:

  • You can specify the Activa conditions, including the number of quarters, employment percentage and reduction code. You can also specify the amounts corresponding to each work allowance, if required.
  • You can specify an alternative wage type (other than the standard) to store the Activa amount and assign the work allowance to the relevant condition. When creating or changing the conditions, use the PAYR subapplication for selection.

Note: The competency for work allowance has been moved to regional level. As a result, the conditions may change and are now defined by the employment offices of the different regions.

There are a number of exceptional cases where the entitlements and validity period specified on the employee's job card do not correspond to the employee's actual Activa conditions. These cases are described, as follows:

  • If the employee is rehired within 30 months after the complete/partial period in which Activa entitlements (social insurance reductions and/or work allowances) have been applied.
  • The employee is impacted by transitional Activa regulations, that bridge exceptional Activa circumstances with standard Activa regulations.

For more information regarding Activa conditions and regulations, refer to the information published by the National Employment Office (ONEM/ RVA) and the corresponding regional employment offices.

You can activate an alternative framework for Activa code selection. If you choose this approach, then you can implement enhanced texts and relationships between reductions, allowances, and job codes.
To activate the alternative texts, use Customizing activity Activate Alternative Activa Texts.
