In this step, you maintain the addresses of your MRQ Taxation Identifiers so that the system can perform Year End Reporting. If desired, you may also use this step to assign arbitrary Tax Reporting Units of your choosing to the Taxation Identifiers in your enterprise.

Required entries

Assuming that your enterprise operates in the province of Québec, the assignment of addresses to Taxation Identifiers in this step of the Implementation Guide is required for Year End Reporting purposes. The assignment of Taxation Identifiers to Tax Reporting Units, however, is optional.

If your enterprise does not operate in the province of Québec and if it therefore is not required to perform Year End Reporting for le Ministère du Revenu du Québec, then exit this step of the Implementation Guide and proceed with Year End Reporting.

Standard settings

As delivered, the standard system features no pre-configured entries for this data.

Activities

To assign addresses to your Taxation Identifiers for Year End Reporting purposes, follow these instructions.

  1. Execute this IMG step.

On the following screen, for each ten-digit Registration Number shown, enter the official name, street address, city, province or territory, postal code and telephone number of the parent company to which that Registration Number is assigned.

When you have maintained this data for every Registration Number (that is, table entry) shown, save your entries.
  2. Upon saving your entries, highlight the table entry of the first Registration Number whose address you maintained, then choose the Assign Addresses to Account Numbers icon (at left).
    1. On the following screen, for each complete Taxation Identifier shown, enter the official name, street address, city, province or territory, postal code and telephone number of the company to which that Taxation Identifier is assigned.

When you have maintained this data for every Taxation Identifier (that is, table entry) shown, save your entries, then return to the previous screen.

Highlight the table entry that corresponds to the next Registration Number whose address you maintained, choose the Assign Addresses to Account Numbers icon (at left), and repeat the maintenance of address data until you enter and save the reporting addresses of all of the Taxation Identifiers assigned to your enterprise.

If you wish to expedite the Year End Reporting process by assigning your Taxation Identifiers to arbitrary Tax Reporting Units, proceed as follows. Otherwise, exit this step of the Implementation Guide and proceed with Year End Reporting.

  1. If desired, highlight the table entry of the first Registration Number whose address you maintained, then choose the Assign Tax Reporting Units to Bus. Nos./QC Tax IDs icon (at left).
    1. On the following screen, for each Taxation Identifier shown, enter the start date and arbitrary Tax Reporting Unit (any one- to five character alphanumeric code) of your choosing.

      Note
To end existing Tax Reporting Unit assignments, delimit these assignments as needed.
    2. Save your entries, then return to the previous screen.
    3. Highlight the table entry that corresponds to the next Registration Number whose address you maintained, choose the Assign Tax Reporting Units to Bus. Nos./QC Tax IDs icon (at left), and repeat the assignment of Tax Reporting Units until all Taxation Identifiers are assigned appropriately.

Exit the transaction, then proceed to the next IMG step.

Example

Examples of permissible Tax Reporting Units include:

  • C, 2, Z,
    VAN, 514, 416,
    TEMPS, ONT01, 1999A,
    2001, 9TO5, SYND,
    HQ, T4, 07,

... or any set of one- to five-character alphanumeric codes you wish.

One possible configuration of Tax Reporting Units is shown below.

  • QC Tax ID 1234567890RS0001 - Montréal parent company
    From 01.01.2003 - To 31.12.9999
    Unit 2003A
  • QC Tax ID 1234567890RS0002 - Trois-Rivières subsidiary
    From 01.01.2003 - To 31.12.9999
    Unit 2003B
  • QC Tax ID 1234567890RS0003 - Québec subsidiary
    From 01.01.2003 - To 31.12.9999
    Unit 2003C
  • QC Tax ID 1234567890RS0004 - Sherbrooke subsidiary
    From 01.01.2003 - To 31.12.9999
    Unit 2003C
  • QC Tax ID 1234567890RS0005 - Chicoutimi/Jonquière subsidiary
    From 01.01.2003 - To 31.12.9999
    Unit 2003C

In the above example, Year End Reporting for tax year 2003 can be performed for the Montréal parent company under Tax Reporting Unit 2003A, for the Trois-Rivières subsidiary under Tax Reporting Unit 2003B, or for all other subsidiaries under Tax Reporting Unit 2003C.

However, if these Tax Reporting Units had not been configured, then the system could only execute Year End Reporting for all Taxation Identifiers simultaneously.
