In this step, you define the pension types that exist in your company.

The standard system includes the following pension types:

  • Individual pension

  • Surviving dependant's pension

  • Other pensions.

SAP recommends that you use the pension types in the standard system.

The difference between an individual pension and a pension for a surviving dependant is important in payroll accounting. When a pension is valuated for tax, the corresponding pension exemption amounts are calculated based on the pension type (surviving dependant's pension or individual pension).
