OHAGFT011 - Determine Behaviour of Tax Refund During Gross-Up

In this Customizing activity, you can make the necessary settings so that tax refund is processed correctly as follows:

• Free-of-tax allowance for employees who should receive the allowance on top of a potential tax refund

To record a guaranteed net amount of this type, use wage type M350 or a copy

• Guaranteed net amount against which a potential tax refund is offset and which would therefore reduce the total gross amount an employer would have to pay

To record a guaranteed net amount of this type, use wage type M360 or a copy

Make these settings to prevent incorrect processing of free-of-tax allowances for employees who have such allowances as their only pay component. If you do not make these settings, the payroll will correctly handle cases where tax refund is offset against the allowance in payroll, but it may not correctly handle cases where the tax refund is paid on top of the allowance.

To process tax refund correctly during gross-up, proceed as follows:

1. Create a copy of model wage type M360 in the Create wage type catalog Customizing activity.
2. Copy your wage type to all relevant clients.
3. Copy guaranteed net amount type '02' as defined in the Define deductions to be used Customizing activity from client 000 to other clients.

If the entry '02' already exists in another client, choose a different one to copy to, and assign your copy of wage type M360 to the new type of guaranteed net amount in the Define free of tax type Customizing activity.

When creating a copy of the guaranteed net amount type, make sure you specify '01' as the as the Special rule for deduction.
