SAP E-Book

In this step, you set up your absence groupings. These are known as absence categories in SAP terms.

The standard groupings provided by SAP are as follows:

  • ".I" Only OIP
  • ".S" Only OSP
  • "M." Only SMP
  • "S." Only SSP
  • "MM" SMP & OMP
  • "SI" SSP & OIP
  • "SS" SSP & OSP
  • "PP" SPP & OPP
  • "GG" SAP & OAP

There are four existing standard groupings for absence subtypes:

  • "S." SSP'able
  • "M." SMP'able
  • "P" SPP'able
  • "G" SAP'able

For occupational schemes (customer specific), absence groupings are defined using the second character:

  • "I" Industrial Injury
  • "S" Sickness
  • "M" Maternity
  • "P" Paternity
  • "G" Adoption

The combination of these two allows the groupings to overlap. For example, a maternity absence that receives SMP and OMP would be in an absence grouping MM.

There may be special entitlements for terminal illnesses. These types of illness have a completely separate entitlement, but also receive SSP.

A new absence category "ST" (SSP and Terminal OSP) could be created.

This absence category can then be used to group all the terminal illnesses that receive SSP and have a separate entitlement.

The absence categories provided as standard by SAP should normally be sufficient for your needs.
