SAP E-Book

In this step, you define your customer-specific time units.

If you cannot use the SAP standard time units, then you are able to customise your own. However, customising your own time units implies that you must define them in the Time Unit Multiplier table or write some ABAP coding in the customer exits provided.

Obviously, not all the SAP standard time units are applicable to all situations and some should be used for an amount unit (E11), others for a length unit (R12, R13), and some for seniority calculation (S11, S12, and S13).

Do notcreate time units beginning with "E", "R", or "S".

The standard time units provided by SAP that are used in the absence evaluation process are:

  • E11 Entitlement amount: An entitlement week
  • R12 Rollback period: One calendar month
  • R13 Rollback period: One calendar year
  • S11 Seniority calculation: Number of days in a week
  • S12 Seniority calculation: Number of days in a month
  • S13 Seniority calculation: Number of days in a year

There are two other units that are precustomised:

  • 010 Days: One day in a day
  • 011 Weeks: Seven days in a week

Generally, maternity absences do not have a rollback period. Only the current absence is checked. Therefore, for this absence type, define a rollback of zero "010". Also maternity entitlements tend to have every day in the absence qualify to reduce entitlements and the entitlements are defined using "011" weeks.

Generally, sickness absences have a one-year calendar rollback period. Therefore, for this absence type, define a rollback of one "R13". Also sickness entitlements tend to have only working days in the absence qualify to reduce entitlements and the entitlements are defined using "E11" entitlement weeks.
