In the system, you can create the following types of probation period that are used in an employee's end-of-year (EOY) payment calculation:

  • Company-based probation period - the probation period defined by company policy. You can create this probation period in the following way:
  • Enter the probation period in the Contract Elements infotype (0016).

  • Enter the end of probation date in the Monitoring of Dates infotype (0019).

  • Statutory probation period - the required time period before an employee is legally eligible for EOY payment. This is maintained in the EOY payroll function used to determine the exact EOY eligibility period, HKEOY.

In schema HKBD, the payroll function HKEOY calculates the EOY eligibility period. Parameter 2 of this function specifies the value of the statutory probation period.

In this step, you check that the statutory probation period entered in the EOY payroll function complies with legal requirements.

In the standard system, the statutory probation period entered in the EOY payroll function HKEOY is 3 months.

  1. Check that the statutory probation period for an employee to become eligible for EOY payments is correctly entered in the payroll function HKEOY.
  2. Change to the correct value if required.

For more information about the payroll function, please refer to the online documentation for that payroll function.
