This step explains the wage types for employees whose work schedule rule is flextime work. The start and end times of normal working time are set for the flextime employee. Planned working hours and the employee's work schedule are generated based on these times. The start and end times of planned work are not defined in advance. If core time is defined, employees have to at least work between the start and end of core time. Outside of the core time, the employee can decide the

start and end of work. However, during the payroll period (monthly payroll, for example), employees have to work planned working hours.

Work starts at 9:00 AM and is scheduled to end at 17:30 PM

The schedule working time in a day amounts to 7.5 hours (standard setting).
Core time 11:00 AM -14:00 PM.
  • 11:00 AM - 14:00 PM is time that the employee must work.

< content of wage type >

  • M111 (Night overtime hour).
  • Night overtime at midnight in overtime work on weekday.

It is 22:00-5:00 in setting the standard.
  • M113 (Time-off Night overtime hour)
  • Overtime at midnight in overtime work on holiday.

It is 22:00-5:00 in setting the standard.
  • M122 (Time-off overtime hour (flextime))
  • Work hours of holiday which is not red-letter day(Saturday etc.) for flextime work employee : A

Hours of compensatory day off : B
C = A - B
C is Time-off overtime hour (flextime).
  • M124(Holiday overtime (flextime))
  • Work hours of holiday which is red-letter day (for example, Sunday) : A

Hours of compensatory day off : B
C = A - B
C is Holiday overtime (flextime).
  • M730 (Flextime balance shortage).
  • Flextime balance shortage may occur in following case;

Normal overtime on weekday : A
Hours of compensatory day off on weekday : B
Unpaid absence (Unpaid leave, Unpaid absence/lateness) : C
D = A - B - C
If D is less than zero, then Flextime balance shortage is D.
  • If Flextime balance shortage occur, specified hours can be carried over to next period without deduction. This upper limit of hours for carry over is specified by payroll constant GLMIN in table T511K. A sample of upper limit of hours for carry over is set to 10h. Any number of hours beyond this upper limit is subject for deduction in the payroll accounting process.

  • M731 (Flextime balance plus).
  • Flextime balance plus may occur in following case;

Normal overtime on weekday : A
Hours of compensatory day off on weekday : B
Unpaid absence(Unpaid leave, Unpaid absence/lateness) : C
D = A - B - C
If D is less than zero, then Flextime balance plus is D.
  • If Flextime balance plus occur, specified hours can be carried over to next period without paying overtime allowance. This upper limit of hours for carry over is specified by payroll constant GLMAX in table T511K.

If Flextime balance plus exceeds upper limit, exceeded time will be carried forward to next month. However, carrying over Flextime balance to next monthly period is not allowed in Japan. Thus the standard setting of the upper limit of Flextime balance is set to 999h to prevent carry over.

When the aforementioned wage types are customized or copied to user wage types, this affects payroll processing. The reason for this is that the standard wage types are specified in the cycle in the payroll accounting process. If you customize or create user wage types by copying standard wage types, you should also customize/adjust related cycles and schemas (JT00:Processing of Time Data for Payroll Accounting - JAPAN). The relationship between standard wage types and cycles is listed below.

  • M111
  • Cycle J14A: Importing previous month's time WT (JAPAN)

  • M113
  • Cycle J14A: Importing previous month's time WT (JAPAN)

  • Cycle J15B: Cumulate kijungai number of time-off work days kijungai/nai each

  • M122
  • Cycle J14A: Importing previous month's time WT (JAPAN)

  • Cycle J15B: Cumulate kijungai number of time-off work days kijungai/nai each

  • M124
  • Cycle J14A: Importing previous month's time WT (JAPAN)

  • Cycle J15B: umulate kijungai number of time-off work days kijungai/nai each

  • M730
  • Cycle J14A: Importing previous month's time WT (JAPAN)

  • Cycle J162: Subtract flextime balance(+ or -) from basic pay basis II

  • Cycle J163: Pay carry-over hours

  • Cycle J16A: Liquidate Flex balance for Retirement

  • Cycle JD15: valuate time wage types for Deduction / Unpaid absence

  • Cycle JM15: Evaluate time wage types for Deductions / Unpaid absences

  • M731
  • Cycle J110: Create Overtime from Actual work hours

  • Cycle J14A: Importing previous month's time WT (JAPAN)

  • Cycle J162: Subtract flextime balance(+ or -) from basic pay basis II

  • Cycle J930: Processing actual times

  1. Check the specifications of the aforementioned standard wage types.
  2. Check the value of the upper limit hours for Flextime balance shortage, and change if necessary.
  3. Check the value of the upper limit hours for Flextime balance plus, and change if necessary.
  4. If necessary, copy the aforementioned standard wage types to user wage types.
  5. Copy the standard cycle to be customized/adjusted (J110 to Z110, J14A to Z14A, J15B to Z15B, J16A to Z16A, J162 to Z162, J163 to Z163, J930 to Z930, JD15 to ZD15 and JM15 to ZM15). Then customize/adjust each cycle affected by customizing the aforementioned wage types.
  6. Then customize schema JT00 by deactivating the corresponding standard cycles and inserting user cycles.
