In this step, you define the necessary period modifiers for payroll intervals. The period modifier determines the period in which payroll accounting is carried out (for example: once a month, once every two weeks, once a week). If you have already set up period modifiers in personnel administration, you might only need to check the modifiers here.

You define a period modifier for monthly payroll runs and a further modifier for weekly payroll periods.

Find out how often payroll is run in your company.

The entry "01" is defined in the standard SAP system for monthly periods. In this case the payroll period corresponds to the calendar month, i.e. from the first to the last day of the month.

Define as few period modifiers as possible, Do not change the entry "01" for monthly payroll periods.

  1. Define a period modifier for every period in which a payroll run is carried out.
  2. Assign an appropriate mnemonic text to every period modifier.
  3. A time unit must be assigned to every period modifier. The following values can be used as time units:
01 monthly
02 twice-monthly
03 weekly
04 two-weekly
05 four-weekly
06 annually
  1. Specify an earliest start date for every period modifier. This date can also be further back in the past (for example: 1/1/1992).

In Japan, only monthly payroll periods are supported. In this case, you only need one period modifier.
