In this step you define the codes for the jurisdictions and their descriptions. In Canada, the laws governing garnishments often differ from one jurisdiction to the next. By selecting from these codes in the Garnishment order infotype, the user determines which laws are applicable.

It is recommended that you mainly use the common abbreviations for the provinces of Canada. If the Province of employment field of the Canadian taxation infotype (224) matches a code for a jurisdiction, then it is proposed in the infotype when initially creating a garnishment order. As most garnishment orders should originate from the province of employment of the employee, this should save time when entering the garnishment order. Note that this is not done if a default value for the jurisdiction is specified in the view Default values.

You define a code for the jurisdiction, and you enter a description of the jurisdiction.
