SAP E-Book

In this step, you define the characteristics of wage types.

These characteristics refer to wage type entries but not how wage types operate in payroll.

You want to define a maximum wage type amount of 1000 and a minimum of 10.

The maximum wage type number may be 100, the minimum 1.

The wage type amount must not be included in the total lines of basic pay.

Enter an amount for each wage type.

Only the number for a wage type is possible to enter.

A certain unit of time and measurement should be proposed as a default for the number that can be entered.

Wage types should be valuated indirectly.

You have set up your wage type catalog in the previous step.

You have set up your pay scales in the previous steps.

You have defined your wage type catalog and have an overview of your wage types' characteristics.

The standard system contains model wage types.

If you intend to use SAP Payroll, familiarize yourself with its functionality. You may be setting up wage types that the payroll program creates anyway.

  1. Add wage types according to your specific requirements.
    1. Define the country grouping for the wage type(s) you want to edit.
    2. Position the cursor on an entry whose title describes, or roughly describes, whatever it is you require.
    3. Decide whether to copy this wage type under a new number, or to create new entries (without a copy template).
    4. Define the number and name of the wage type.
    5. Define the validity period for the entry.
    6. Define the operation indicator.
    7. If necessary, define the minimum and maximum amount of the wage type.
    8. If you want to edit a wage type so it can be entered in infotype 0008 Basic Pay, determine whether the amount of this wage type is included in total basic pay.
    9. If necessary, define the default unit of time/measurement, and the minimum/maximum number.
    10. Define the number/amount input combinations.
    11. If necessary, define indirect valuation with its characteristics.
Indirect valuation is possible for the following infotypes:
Basic Pay (0008)
Recurring Payments and Deductions (0014)
Additional Payments (0015)
Wage Maintenance (0052)
  1. If you want to use HR-TIM, define whether the wage type represents a bonus or basic hourly pay.
  • Delete any unnecessary wage types.
  • This step only defines wage types that can be entered in infotypes. Wage types that are generated by payroll runs do not need to be defined in this step.
