OHAKTX006 - Define Business Numbers for Mergers and Acquisitions

With this activity, you update the CRA Business Numbers for your enterprise if it participates in a merger or acquisition.

If you have two Business Numbers in your enterprise participating in a merger or acquisition, CRA allows you to continue with the existing employee and employer CPP/EI contributions instead of re-starting those contributions.

Enter the old Business Number that is being merged, the new Business Number that is being created, and the begin and end dates for the merger or acquisition. The begin date should be the date from which the merger or acquisition is effective.

Company A has two Business Numbers: 123456781RP0001 and 123456782RP0001.

Upon acquiring company B, the Business Number 123456782RP0001 changes to 123456783RP0001, effective July 1, 2004. You would therefore insert an entry in the view as follows:

123456782RP0001,,,,123456783RP0001,,,,31.12.9999,,,,01.07.2004

Recommendation

We recommend that you always enter 31.12.9999 as the end date for all entries in this table.

Execute this IMG step.

1. Select New Entries.
2. Under the Old Business number column, enter the existing Business Number.
3. Under the New Business number column, enter the new Business Number.
4. Enter the begin and end dates.
5. Save your entries.
