In this step, you configure the payroll program to process drop deductions. This means that the payroll program will exclude payment or deduction wage types from a payroll run if, for example, an employee only works part of a payroll period.

To do this, you activate the personnel calculation rule used to calculate drop deductions.

A weekly paid employee receives a sports allowance of $20 per week. In the past month, the employee has worked full-time for three weeks and part-time for one week.

If you configure the payroll program to process drop deductions, the employee will receive a sports allowance amount of $60 ($20 each week) for the three weeks in which he or she worked full-time, and will not receive the sports allowance for the week in which he or she worked part-time.

Before performing this activity, you should have copied and renamed the Import Further Benefits/Deductions subschema (for example, from QAP0 to ZAP0).

In the standard system, the personnel calculation rule used to process drop deductions is deactivated.

To activate drop deduction processing, delete the asterisk in column D of the Drop Deductions personnel calculation rule (QDD0) found within your copied version of the Import Further Benefits/Deductions subschema.
