When you calculate social insurance payments, you base the calculation on the employee's income in the two calendar years before the period of absence begins.

According to legislation, if employees meet certain prerequisites, they can specify any two calendar years as the base for calculating social insurance payments. For example, if an employee was on parental leave during the two years immediately before a period of absence begins, the employee can submit a statement that entitles them to specify any two calendar years before he or she took parental leave. You store the required base years for calculating social insurance payments in the Statement About Rules for SI Payments (3273) infotype. If required, you can create multiple subtypes in the Statement About Rules for SI Payments (3273) infotype to differentiate between the rules for calculating social insurance payments for different absence types.

To enable the system to calculate social insurance payments based on the two years that the employee requests, you make the following settings:

  1. You assign the wage types in which you store the base amounts for calculating social insurance payments to a calculation modifier that the system uses to distinguish between different algorithms for calculating social insurance payments.
You make this setting in the Customizing activity Link Wage Type for Social Insurance Base to Calculation Modifier.
  2. You determine which combinations of absence types and rules for calculating social insurance payments the system processes using the same calculation algorithms.
You make these settings in the Customizing activity Assign Additional Attribute to Absence Types for SI Absences.
