In this Customizing activity, you determine which wage types per calendar year the system uses to store the base amounts and base number of days for calculating different types of social insurance payments. In Russia, the social insurance payments for certain types of absences are covered by different funds within the social insurance fund (FSS). For example, the social insurance payments for sickness and maternity leave are covered by one fund and the social insurance payments for work accidents and occupational illnesses are covered by a different fund.

To enable the system to differentiate between the social insurance payments that are covered by different funds in the FSS, the system must store the base amounts and base number of days for calculating the social insurance payments in separate wage types. Each wage type for a given absence type contains the amounts for a particular calendar year. You can also provide wage types to store base number of days. You use a calculation modifier to separate the wage types that store the base amounts and base number of days for the different absence types.

You have defined the wage types in which you want to store the base amounts and base number of days for calculating social insurance payments for the required calendar years in the Assign the Valuation of Averages to a Primary Wage Type Customizing activity.

  1. For each set of social insurance payments that you must calculate separately, define a calculation modifier that comprises up to 4 digits.
  2. Assign the wage types in which you store the total base amounts for calculating social insurance payments for the required calendar years to the corresponding calculation modifier.
  3. Optionally assign the wage types in which you store the total base number of days for calculating social insurance payments for the required calendar years to the corresponding calculation modifier.

Assume that you must calculate the social insurance payments for work accidents and occupational illnesses differently to the social insurance payments for all other types of absences covered by social insurance contributions. In this scenario, you must calculate social insurance payments for two sets of absences, which you represent in this Customizing activity by defining two calculation modifiers as follows:

  • 0002 for work accidents and occupational illnesses
  • 0001 for all other absences covered by social insurance contributions

You assign the wage types that you use to store the total base amounts for calculating the social insurance payments for the required calendar years to the corresponding calculation modifier that applies to a given group of absences. For maternity leave, you assign wage types which store base number of days to the 0001 calculation modifier. The table below contains sample entries for calculating social insurance payments in 2010 and 2011:

Calculation Modifier Payroll Year Wage Type for Amount Wage Type for Number
0001 2010 SC10 (SI Payments Other Than Work Accidents and Occupational Illnesses) SN10
0001 2011 SC11 (SI Payments Other Than Work Accidents and Occupational Illnesses) SN11
0002 2010 SW10 (SI Payments for Work Accidents and Occupational Illnesses)
0002 2011 SW11 (SI Payments for Work Accidents and Occupational Illnesses)
