In this Customizing activity, you determine if the system splits the payroll period on the start date of a personnel action.

The system splits the payroll period to meet legal requirements in Russia by evaluating the required time frame to calculate an employee's pay for periods of absence.

You have set up the Russia-specific personnel action for rehiring employees in Customizing for Personnel Management under Personnel Administration -> Personal Data -> Russia-Specific Settings -> Assign Action Types for Hiring and Leaving.

The standard system contains the personnel action type for rehiring employees in Russia, UR.

For each personnel action type that you use to rehire employees, select the Account. split (Period Split for Payroll Accounting) checkbox.

One of your employees leaves your company on March 10. You rehire the same employee five days later on March 15. Starting on March 20, the employee is sick for 5 days.

In line with Russian legislation, you must calculate the average pay for the sickness period based only on the time that the employee worked from the last hiring event, that is, March 15.

To enable the system to use only the employment period from March 15 as the basis for the average calculation, the system splits the payroll period into two parts: before you rehired the employee and after you rehired the employee. To split the payroll period, the system uses the setting that you make for the Russia-specific action type UR in this Customizing activity.
