In this IMG activity, you set up the details for each of the rules that you use to limit deductions in your company.

The payroll functions RUPRI and PRDNT use the data in this IMG activity to limit the total amount that you deduct from an employee's salary. For example, according to legislation, the maximum deduction that you can make is 70% of an employee's gross salary.

Note: By contrast, the function LIMIT uses the data in the IMG activity Define Rules for Limits for independent deductions. In other words, you determine that the income tax limit is 50% of an employee's gross salary and the limit for administrative deductions is 20%. The function cannot check, if the total amount of the deduction is 70%.

  1. Set up the required limits for deductions from an employee's gross salary.
  2. Assign the limitation rules that you define in this IMG activity to deduction rules in the IMG activity Create Deduction Groups.
  3. Set up the maximum restriction (if necessary) of the selected Limit rule in the Set Up Maximum Restriction of the Limit Rule node.

  1. Assume that the following limit rules are specified in the Limit rules specification node:
50% 50% of the garnishment base (see section 2a below)
PLIM 100% of the garnishment base minus the limit set up by bailiff (entered into Garnishment Orders (0295) infotype) (see section 2b below).

    1. The table below shows the entries required to process deductions that amount to a maximum of 50% of an employee's gross salary.
Rule No. End Date Start Date Wage Type Percentage PIn Retro
50 1 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /101 50,00 + Add
50 2 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /322 50,00 + Add
50 3 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /551 50,00 + Add D
50 4 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /561 50,00 + Subtract O
50 5 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /332 50,00 + Add
50 6 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /337 50,00 + Add

The system reads the gross amounts (wage type /101), excludes all income taxes (wage types /322, /332, and /337), appends delta payments from the previous payroll period (wage type /551 from table DT_PERSON), and excludes the claim (wage type /561 from table ORT).

  1. The table below shows the entries required to process deductions that the amount allows to deduct not more than the minimum limit set by the bailiff from an employee's net salary.
Rule No. End Date Start Date Wage Type Percentage PIn Retro
PLIM 1 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /101 100,00 + Add

PLIM 25 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 /027 100,00 + Add
PLIM 26 31.12.9999 01.01.2000 MGB3 100,00 - Subtract

  1. The maximum restriction of the limit rule node is maintained with the following line:
Rule Start Date End Date Rule
50% 01.02.2022 31.12.9999 PLIM

After the two values (for 50% restriction and PLIM restrictions) are calculated, the lowest limit among the those is picked as a limit for the values withheld from the employee's pay.
