In this Customizing activity, you determine how the system divides the payroll period into subperiods for all employees in your company. You divide the payroll period for all employees following a major change in legislation, for example, if the regulations for calculating an employee’s average salary or the basic rate of income tax changes.

The division of the payroll period enables you to meet legal requirements by distinguishing between the periods when the different regulations apply. You use the division of the payroll period to assign amounts to the correct part of the payroll period when you calculate an employee’s average salary and when you prepare income tax reports.

The division of the payroll period comprises the following steps:

  • Check the Additional Splitting of Master Data (UASP) personnel calculation schema
  • Enter the date for a company-wide split in the Work Place/Basic Pay (WPBP) table
For more information about how the system divides the payroll period into subperiods, see the documentation for the Additional Splitting of WPBP and IT (UASPL) function.

  1. Check the Additional Splitting of Master Data (UASP) personnel calculation schema and if required, adapt it to meet your requirements.
  2. To cause the system to split the payroll period for all employees on a given date, enter a start number between 1000 and 1999 and the date on which you want the system to split the payroll period.
