In this Customizing activity, you determine the percentage payment that an employee receives when he or she is absent. You can use this activity as follows:

  • To determine the limit for an employee's absence
  • To define different payers by specifying substitute wage types

You enter a percentage for a combination of the following data:

  • Social insurance group
  • Social insurance group modifier
  • Absence type
  • Primary Wage Type
  • Secondary Wage Type

You can specify data as follows:

  • If you want to determine the limit for an employee's absence pay, you must specify only a primary wage type
In line with legal requirements, the system uses the percentage that you enter in this Customizing activity to determine the limit for an employee's absence pay. For example, if an employee is entitled to 60% of his or her salary for a period of absence, the system multiplies the limit by 60%, too.
  • If want to define a different payer for a given absence payment, you can specify a substitute wage type for the corresponding record in the Customizing activity. If you do not specify a wage type, the system uses the default wage type defined for the UASI0 function.
  • If you want to define two different payers for certain percentages of the absence pay, you must specify two different wage types.
When calculating absence pay, the system deducts the payments calculated for the secondary wage type from the payment for the primary wage type. For example, assume 60% of the absence pay is paid by the social insurance fund, and 40% is paid by the Chernobyl Fund. In this case, you must specify the wage type for social insurance fund as the primary wage type and 100% as the corresponding amount. Similarly, you must specify the wage type for the Chernobyl Fund as the secondary wage type, and 40% as the corresponding amount. The system thus calculates 40% of the regular pay for the Chernobyl Fund and deducts this amount from the 100% of the regular pay which results in 60% of the regular pay for the social insurance fund.

Example 1

One of your employees, Anna Stepanova, has worked for less than five years and her child becomes ill. According to current legislation, Anna can stay at home to care for her sick child.

Anna is entitled to receive 60% of her regular pay as sick pay. For each working day during the fist 5 calendar days in her absence period, she receives sick pay from the employer. For other working days in her absence period, she receives sick pay from social insurance fund.

Example 2

One of your employees, Alexander Stepanenko, is affected by the Chernobyl Disaster (and so he is assigned the U4 social insurance group modifier).

According to current legislation, Alexander is entitled to receive 100% of his regular pay as sick pay. Alexander receives 40% of his sick pay from the Chernobil Fund for each working day in the absence period. He receives the remaining 60% as follows:

  • For each working day during the first calendar 5 days, he receives sick pay from the employer
  • For each working day from the 6th calendar day on, he receives sick pay from social insurance fund
