In this Customizing activity, you set up the details for each of the rules that you use to limit deductions in your company.

The Processing of the Priorities and Deductions Group Tables (UAPRI) and Processing of Table DDNTK (Deductions Not Taken) (PRDNT) payroll functions use the data in this Customizing activity to limit the total amount that you deduct from an employee's salary. For example, assume that according to legislation, the maximum deduction that you can make is 70% of an employee's gross salary.

Note: By contrast, the Limiting Deductions (LIMIT) function uses the data in the IMG activity Define Rules for Limits for independent deductions. In other words, you determine that the income tax limit is 50% of an employee's gross salary and the limit for administrative deductions is 20%. The function cannot check that the total amount of the deduction is 70%.

  1. Set up the required limits for deductions from an employee's gross salary.
  2. Assign the limitation rules that you define in this Customizing activity to deduction rules in the Customizing activity Create Deductions Groups.

The table below shows the entries required to process deductions that amount to a maximum of 50% of an employee's gross salary.

The system reads the gross amounts (wage type /101), excludes all taxes (wage types /321, /4T3, /4T4, /4T7, /4T9), adds delta payments from the previous payroll period (wage type /561 from table DT), and excludes the claim (wage type /561 from table ORT).
