In this Customizing activity, you create links between wage types that store the income tax base amount and the corresponding wage types that store tax base amounts without income tax exemption. For income tax, these wage types are /31A or /31N.

The Customizing activity allows you to use the wage types that store the tax base amount calculated in the previous month for the current month in case the employee does not have main income in the current month. The Customizing activity works together with the Build Variables for Tax Calculation (UANW) payroll rule to read the income tax base or ESV base amount calculated in the previous period for the current period.

As of 27 April 2012, the legal requirements for calculating income tax have changed; you do not distribute ESV exemption among income tax scales anymore. This Customizing activity is only relevant if this new legal requirement is applied in your system. To check that, in the Maintain Taxes and Social Insurance Payments Customizing activity, see the start date when the payroll rule UAX0 is defined for tax classes U6 and U7. By default, it is set to 01 April 2012.

Enter the wage types that you want to link together, for example, for an employee who was sick in the current month and did not have main income, you can link the wage type that stores the ESV base for sick leave with the wage type that stores the ESV base for the main income calculated in the previous month for the current month.

An employee is on vacation from 30 April to 10 May 2012 and the employee is disabled. The ESV for the vacation is calculated in April 2012 and the ESV base stored in the wage type /4U6. Between 11 May and 31 May 2012, the employee is on sick leave. In addition, in May, the employee is not disabled anymore.

In this case, you link together the following wage types:

  • Wage type /4U0 (ESV base for main income calculated in the previous period in the current period) with wage type /4U2
  • Wage type /4U6 (ESV base for main income for disabled person) with wage type /4U0

When the UANW payroll rule processes the wage type /4B2, it reads the relevant amount for used ESV base (/4U2) in the CRT table. But it cannot find the relevant amount.

Since you linked the wage type /4U2 with /4U0, the rule reads the wage type /4U0 from the CRT table, but once again, it cannot find the relevant amount.

Since you linked the wage type /4U0 with /4U6, the rule reads the wage type /4U6 from the CRT table and transfers the relevant amount to the AIT table.
