In this step, you assign the number ranges for your W-2 and W-2C forms.

You must have applied for, and received, the control numbers from the Puerto Rico tax authority. You must request the control numbers no later than December 31st.

You should ensure that you request sufficient control numbers to satisfy your company's requirements.

You must have a separate control number range for withholding statements (W-2) and for correction withholding statements (W-2C). The numbers cannot be mixed; numbers assigned for withholding statements (W-2) can only be used for withholding statements, just as numbers assigned for correction withholding statements (W-2C) can only be used for correction withholding statements.

  1. Enter the year and the tax company in the respective fields.
  2. Enter either W-2 or W-2C in the Tax form field.
  3. In the Minimum and Maximum fields, enter the control number range that you received from the Puerto Rico tax authority.

You must then use these control numbers on the withholding statement (W-2) and the correction withholding statement (W-2C).

The control number can be up to eight characters long.
