In this step, you set up the functions for shift change compensation.

You want to prevent your employees from being disadvantaged on account of a substitution.

In the standard system, all substitutions recorded with substitution type 02 (shift substitution), are subject to shift change compensation.

The wage types that are used for shift change compensation are valuated in the wage type table (T512W).

  1. Flag the substitution types that are relevant for shift change compensation using the action Flag substitution types
  2. Using the actions Check schema XT00 and Check schema XCOM, ensure that the schemas meet your requirements. If necessary, adjust them. You can further restrict the substitution types that you want to process using functions GENPS and P2003.
  3. In particular, check the wage type M301 in personnel calculation rule X066, schema XCOM. If you want to use a wage type other than M301, you should take into account the tax considerations in the wage type table. This can be relevant, for example, for the calculation of tax reductions for night shift.

In the standard system, shift change compensation is determined daily. An employee who works early shift instead of night shift receives compensation for that day.
It can occur, however, that the next day the employee works night shift instead of early shift. In this case, the employee benefits twice from the substitution. In some circumstances, this is not desirable.
If you want to carry out an adjustment of shift changes on a weekly basis, you can do this by changing schema XCOM. In this way, compensation gained by the employee on one day is reversed by the adjustment on the following day.
For the weekly adjustment to take effect, both days must be within the same week.
