This report checks the consistency of your customizing settings and definitions for one or more benefit areas (or subsections of benefit area definitions) by comparing entries in customizing views.

The inconsistencies listed by the report only provide a starting point to help you locate problems, since it is not possible for the report to know how you intended each definition to be. Since you need to decide for yourself exactly how to correct the errors and problems that are found, SAP recommends that you only attempt to do so if you have a very good understanding of Benefits Customizing.

In most cases, the report detects inconsistencies between two views. However, there may be dependencies between an inconsistent entry in one of these views and a customizing entry in another view. For this reason, it is important to be aware of this interdependency of the view entries when correcting errors and problems.

Remember that if you simply delete inconsistent entries, you may be removing entries on which definitions in other views are dependent. For example, the report might find that an investment group is not used by any savings plan. You decide the investment group is not needed and delete it. You run the report again, and now find that there are investment options assigned to an investment group that no longer exists.

Before you run the report, you should ensure that customizing is as complete as possible for the benefit area or benefit area subsection that you want to check, otherwise the list of errors may be very extensive.

You may find it helpful to look at the technical tables behind the customizing views to get a clearer overview of how entries are interrelated. Again, you should only do this if you have a very good understanding of Benefits customizing.

  1. Specify the benefit area(s) that you want to check for errors.
If you only want to check a subsection of a benefit area, you specify this in the next step.
  1. Choose Execute.
The customizing sections and views for the benefit area(s) you selected are displayed in a tree structure.
  1. Expand the tree and select the customizing sections that you want to check.
  2. Choose Perform checks.
For each customizing view, the report lists errors or warnings in the benefit area set-up. By double-clicking on the error message, you can display further information about the error and see the inconsistent entries.

If you have defined a benefit plan type and not defined any plans under this plan type in the view, the report issues a warning.
