SAP E-Book

In this step, you define whether the day and year of birth are to be displayed in the search results of searches for persons in the PREM collective search help or in the object manager.

The search result contains an employee's date of birth as follows:

  • In the Date of Birth column
  • As the start date of the first data record in the Personal Data infotype (0002).
As part of a hiring action, the date of birth is entered in the Personal Data infotype (0002). The system uses the date of birth entered there as the start date of the first data record. Since the start date is part of the search result, you can guess an employee's date of birth.

You control the display using the switch of the ADMIN group, with the semantic ID BIRTH in table T77S0 (system table).

The following switch settings are possible:

  • " ": The search results contain the complete date of birth:
  • 1: The date of birth is masked as follows: XX.XX.XXXX
  • 2: The year of birth is masked as follows, 01.01.XXXX

This setting is valid across the entire system for all entries in the search resulted mentioned above.

You have the option of overriding these settings if you do not want to mask day and year of birth across the system but only for the search results that employees in certain areas display.

To do so, execute the step Restrict Masking of Date of Birth to Specific Personal Areas.

For more information, see SAP Note 2170280.

In the standard delivery, the system shows the date of birth as well as the start date of the first data record in infotype 0002 in the search results. The switch setting is " ".

Assign the required value to the ADMIN BIRTH switch.

Save your entries.
