This step allows you to define the characteristics of wage types.

These characteristics refer to the entry of wage types, not how wage types behave in payroll accounting.

  • You want to define a maximum wage type amount of $1000 and a minimum of $10.
  • The maximum wage type number may be 100, the minimum 1.
  • The wage type amount should not be included in the totals line of basic pay.
  • You want to enter a wage type amount and number.
  • You want to set certain units of time and measurement for the number.
  • Wage types should be valuated indirectly.

You have set up your wage type catalog and pay scales.

You have defined your wage type catalog and compiled a list of wage type characteristics.

If you intend to use payroll accounting, familiarize yourself with its functionality. You may be setting up wage types which already exist.

  1. Create wage types according to your requirements.
    1. Define the country grouping for the wage type(s) you want to edit.
    2. Select the most appropriate entry.
    3. Decide whether you want to copy this wage type to a new number or create new entries.
    4. Define the wage type name and number.
    5. Define the validity period for the entry.
    6. Define the operation indicator and the minimum/maximum wage type amounts.
    7. Determine whether the amount should be included in the total basic pay.
    8. Define the default units of time/measurement and the minimum/maximum default numbers.
    9. Define the number/amount input combinations.
    10. Define indirect valuation characteristics.
    11. If you want to use time management, define whether the wage type is a bonus or basic hourly pay.
  2. Delete any unnecessary wage types.

Only define wage types which can be entered in the infotype; wage types which are generated in payroll accounting do not need to be defined.
