In this Customizing activity, you set the client for the local GAR database. The client value is only relevant when GAR is enabled in Enable GAR Address Data.

The client value determines where to get the GAR data. The client value is used as follows:

  • During address data maintenance in infotypes Address (0006) and Legal Properties (Russia) (1655)
  • During maintenance of views Main State Registration Numbers (V_T77PADRU_OGRN) and Address of Organizations (V_T7RU9A)

You could also configure several systems to contain different versions of the GAR database. This is not recommended, however, because full databases take up a lot of space.

Enter a value for the CLIENT parameter.

This parameter determines the client that you want to use for storing the GAR tables in the local database and for validating address data according to the GAR address format in the working client.

Note: To upload GAR database tables into the specified client, use GAR Loader.

You have switched to the GAR solution and want to upload the GAR database to use it in masterdata maintenance. You want to upload the entire database only once to a single place (in this example, client 000) and allow other clients to use this database.

To do so, you log on to the 000 client and set the CLIENTparameter to 000 (same client). Then, you launch the GAR Loader from client 000 to upload the GAR data to this client.

After you’ve successfully uploaded the GAR data to the 000 client, you log on to the other clients where you want to use the database and set the CLIENT parameter to 000.
