In this step, you define your positions.

You want to be able to store the information, that one of your employees works, for example, in the positon of financial accountant, in the infotype Organizational Assignment (0001).

You have decided to use the aforementioned functionality.

Get an overview of the position descriptions that occur in your organization.

The standard SAP System contains various sample positions. However, these positions might not reflect the situation in your company.

SAP recommends that you use positions for reporting or as a preparation for implementing the Organizational Management component.

  1. Only position your cursor on the entries for object type S (position) in the Personnel Administration application.
  2. Delete the entries that you do not need.
  3. Create your own positions and the corresponding data.

You maintain the specifications for the indirect valuation of a position in the step Basic Pay which is in the Payroll data section. (This is only applicable if you have an employee whose remuneration is based on the position's value).

If you are intending to use the HR component Organizational Management at a later stage, you can prepare for this by maintaining the positions.

Entries may be displayed for you to maintain which have a P in the PD column. These entries were added by the Personnel Planning and Development component, which means that these entries can only be maintained or deleted there.
