In this step, you can define the characteristics of wage types.

These characteristics refer to entry of wage types, not how wage types react in payroll.

You want to define a maximum wage type amount of $1000 and a minimum of $10.

The maximum wage type number may be 100, the minimum 1.

The wage type amount should not be included in the totals line of basic pay.

You want to enter a wage type amount and number.

You want to set certain units of time and measurement for the number.

Wage types should be valuated indirectly.

You have set up the wage type catalog and pay scales.

You have defined your wage type catalog and compiled a list of wage type characteristics.

The standard system contains some model wage types which you have copied to your wage type area. Your wage types have inherited the characteristics of the model wage types.

If you intend to use payroll, familiarize yourself with its functionality. You may be setting up wage types which already exist.

  1. Adapt wage types according to your specific requirements.
    1. Define the country grouping of the wage type(s) you want to edit.
    2. Position your cursor on the chosen wage type and call up the detail view.
    3. Define the validity period for the entry.
    4. Define the wage type as a deduction wage type, if appropriate.
    5. Define the minimum/maximum wage type amount.
    6. If you want to edit a wage type for entry in the Basic Pay infotype (0008), define whether the wage type amount should be included in the total basic pay.
    7. Define the default units of time/measurement and the minimum/maximum number.
    8. Define the number/amount input combination.
    9. Define indirect valuation characteristics.
Indirect valuation is possible for the following infotypes:
Basic Pay (0008)
Recurring Payments and Deductions (0014)
Additional Payments (0015)
Wage Maintenance (0052)
  1. If you want to use Time Management, define whether the wage type is a bonus or basic hourly pay.
  • Delete any unnecessary wage types.
  • Only define wage types which can be entered in above infotypes; wage types which are generated in payroll do not need to be defined.
