In this step, you define a complete list of status descriptions that you will use within your system to monitor the validity of:

  • certificates/licenses and
  • areas.

As delivered, the standard system features two status levels - status level C, which helps end users monitor the validity of certificates/licenses, and status level A, which fulfills the same purpose for areas. Additional status levels are not delivered, and configuration for customer-specific status levels is not supported.

  1. Execute this step.
  2. In the subsequent dialog box, specify status level C to maintain the status descriptions that will apply to the validity of certificates/licenses.
    1. On the following screen, for each status to be described, enter a one-character identifier of your choosing in the Doc. Status column.
    2. For each identifier you enter, specify a corresponding description in the adjacent column.
    3. Save your entries, then exit this step.
  3. Execute this step again.
  4. In the subsequent dialog box, specify status level A to maintain the status descriptions that will apply to the validity of areas.
    1. On the following screen, for each status to be described, enter a one-character identifier of your choosing in the Status column.
    2. For each identifier you enter, specify a corresponding description in the adjacent column.
    3. Save your entries, then exit this step again.

The statuses defined here ultimately are used to describe - within employee records of the Certification and Licensing infotype (0795) - the validity of employee certificates or licenses and employee specializations in professional areas. In that infotype, the status of certificates or licenses (at status level C) is denoted in the Doc. Status field, while the status of areas (at status level A) is denoted in the Status field.

By executing this step, you can define the following statuses for certificates or licenses:

  • Doc. Status - Description
    C - To be renewed
    I - Initial professional
    R - Reinstate
    T - Initial temporary
