The function AVERA has a new function that allows the calculation of the average of wage types during the period specified in the infotype Absence quota (2006). Both the absences (infotype Absences -IT 2001)and compensations (infotype Time quotas compensations -IT 0416)related to this quota are valuated based on these averages.

The employee has the following quota in infotype 2006:

  • Validity: 01/01/2000 - 31/12/2000
  • No.of days: 30
  • Allowance period: 01.01.2001 - 31.12.2001

The employee goes on vacation on 13 January 2001, for a period of 10 days, and he wishes to receive direct compensation for the remaining 5 days.

The following entries can be found in infotype 2001:

  • Validity: 03/01/2001 - 12/01/2001
  • Absence duration: 10 days

The following entries can be found in infotype 0416:

  • Validity: 03/01/2001
  • Compensation: 5 days

To evaluate the variable compensation for the leave and compensation days, AVERA calculates the average of the wage types specified in the cumulation rule, which are within the period of the absence quota(01/01/2000 - 31/12/2000).

- Considering that the employee has worked five overtime hours in February , April and June, the average of overtime will be:

5 (overtime) * 3 (months)
_________________________ = 1.25 hours (The average is calculated only for
12 months (acquisition per.duration) period valid in IT2006)

- This average of 1.25 hours has to be proportional to the employee´s leave entitlement:

1.25 hours * 15 days (10 leave +5 compens.)
____________________________________ = 0.625 (overtime average)
30 days (employee´s leave entitlement)

- The actual average of 0.625 must be calculated with the current overtime value (in the example: $4):

0.625 hours * $4 = $2.50

  • Configure the average rules that take the acquisition period into account in the IMG step: Payroll Brazil-> Hourly wage valuation -> Averages -> Create calculation rules for averages using the following values:
  1. In the activity "Create calculation rules for averages":
  • T in the field Freeze, in order to calculate the averages for the acquisition period (in the example: 01/01/2000 - 31/12/2000)

  • Select the selection box in the field Hour average, so that AVERA gives the average directly to field NUM of the wage type which contains the average (in the example: 0.625 hours).

Comment: up to this moment, a unit average (i.e. days, hours...) was always supplied by AVERA to the field RTE in the corresponding wage type. Currently, a new field (Hour average) was added to the view V_T51AV_A (Create calculation rules for averages), so that AVERA gives the average directly to the field NUM of the corresponding wage type.

  • The fields Number of relevant periods and Maximum number of average periods are not taken into account, because they are directly determined through the duration of the whole acquisition period. Consequently, select 01 (calendar month) in the Time unit field next to Number of relevant periods and Maximum number of average periods.

  1. In the activity "Final processing rules for averages":
  • The rule must specify the system parameter REAVP (Number of relevant periods) as the divider of the total amount that results from the addition of wage types during the acquisition period.

  1. So that AVERA takes the employee´s actual leave entitlement into account (i.e. 30, 15 days...), it is necessary to define constant QUOT2 with the same value as 1 (QUOT2=1) in table T511K; otherwise, the system will always take into account a leave entitlement of 30 days.
