In this Customizing activity, you process the payroll units WHT Return As of ELM 4.0.

Subapplication ELQS is activated.

You have created the payroll units WHT Return As of ELM 4.0 and adjusted feature CHFID to the organizational structure of the enterprise (with application key QSTE in the Customizing activity Payroll: Switzerland -> Basic Settings -> Payroll Units -> Maintain Payroll Units).

For each combination of enterprise and WHT canton with which you later run payroll, exactly one WHT Return As of ELM 4.0 payroll unit is required.

Ensure in particular that you assign just one withholding tax payroll unit for each combination of enterprise and canton (1:1 relationship). Failure to do this can lead to inconsistencies; for example, units for a specific canton and enterprise might then exist in Customizing that do not actually exist in the withholding tax return. The results query may later be incomplete or invalid as a result of this inconsistency (canton and payroll number missing) and therefore fail.

A WHT Return As of ELM 4.0 payroll unit is also required for employees that are not relevant for WHT accounting.

If you manage exactly one enterprise in your SAP system (that runs payroll with all 26 cantons), you can copy the sample entries from client 000:

  • 26 payroll units with the same name as the corresponding canton
  • A payroll unit _REST for the employees that are not relevant

If you manage more than one enterprise in your SAP system, we recommend that you name the payroll units as follows: <enterprise ID> _<canton>, for example, 0001_AG and 0002_AG.

For the payroll units, enter your payroll number for the respective canton. You can also specify a contact person and the company code or payroll area for splitting the WHT return.
