SAP E-Book

In this step, you create family characteristics. These refer to subtype 2 (child) of infotype 21 (family).

A family feature can have various specifications which you can provide with an internal key. This is relevant to payroll accounting and controls that different specifications are processed identically by the system.

Family feature 1 (relationship to child), has specification 01 (child born in wedlock) with internal key 0, 02 (stepchild) with with internal key 0, and 05 (adopted child) with internal key 1. This means that specifications 01 and 02 are dealt with identically in the further processing of payroll, while specification 05 is dealt with differently.

In the standard SAP System, the following family features are preset with different specifications:

  • Relationship to child Family feature 1,,,,Relationship to child
  • Relationship to child Family feature 2,,,,Authorization
  • Relationship to child Family feature 3,,,,Custody
  • Relationship to child Family feature 4,,,,Bonus authorization

Do not change the default settings. If you want to make modifications to one of the family features in the standard system, copy it and then change it. Note that changes to the family features can affect payroll accounting.

To create a new family feature, proceed as follows:

  1. Assign a one-digit key to the feature.
  2. Assign a two-digit key to every specification you need.
  3. Enter a short text.
  4. Assign an internal key to the feature if you want.
