The process model defines the sequence in which processing steps are performed. A process model has the following advantages:

  • It provides a clear overview of relationships between individual processing steps
  • It outlines parallels between programs
  • It repeats processes efficiently
  • It provides a clear overview of the status of processes and personnel numbers
  • It provides easy access to the job log and program log.

In this step, you define at least one process model.

Ensure that you have an overview of the subsequent activities used for payroll in your company.

A workflow user must be set up in Basis Customizing under Business Management -> SAP Business Workflow -> Maintain Standard Settings.

The standard system contains several sample process models.

Copy and rename a sample SAP process model, and adjust it to meet your company's requirements.

  1. Create your process model:
    1. Choose the activity Maintain HR Process Model.
    2. Enter the model identifier of the process model you want to copy and choose Copy.
    3. Enter the model identifier for the new process model and choose Change.
Adjust the process model to meet your company's requirements. For more information on process models, refer to the R/3 Library, under Payroll with the R/3 System -> Payroll Process in the Background -> HR Process Workbench.
  1. Choose Activate.
  • Choose Maintain Standard Texts for the Mail Connection.
  • The following standard texts are available for the mail connection:
    • HRPM_MSG_ERROR

    • HRPM_MSG_INIT

    • HRPM_MSG_ABORTED

    • HRPM_MSG_ENDED

    • HRPM_MSG_STOPPED

    • HRPM_MSG_CONT

You can change these texts or create your own texts. If you create your own texts, you must use the style HRPMMSG. The text ID must be ST.

Note that the model identifier for your process model must begin with a number between 0 and 9, or with the character Z.
