In this customizing activity, you determine the wage type where the system saves the income tax deduction afteradjusting it by the UTM unit ("Unidad Tributaria Mensual").

During the reliquidation process, the system calculates the income tax difference for each period and drags it to the subsequent, until reaching the last period. This last period is the period when the reliquidation was triggered.

In this last period, the system converts the income tax difference into a deduction. It is the income tax difference which needs to be deducted from the employee's salary. The conversion of the difference into a deduction is part of the international retrocalculation functionality.

However, to enable you to comply with Chilean legislation, the system must ensure the income tax difference to be deducted is adjusted by the UTM unit (to compensate for inflation). This step of the process is specific for Chile and requires the settings you make in this customizing activity.

Refer to the Examplesection below for a description of the calculation process.

You have defined the wage types the system uses in each step of the tax reliquidation in the preceding Customizing activities, as follows:

This activity is mandatory to enable the reliquidation in your system. You can use wage types delivered by SAP or customer-specific wage types.

  1. Enter the cumulation wage type where you want the system to save the income tax deduction afteradjusting it by the UTM.
  2. Enter the wage type where the system saves the income tax deduction beforeadjusting it by the UTM. It must be the same wage type you defined in the preceding activity Assign Wage Types for Reliquidation Deduction.
  3. Enter the validity dates.
  4. Save your entries.

You execute this activity and make the following entries:

  • You enter MDRI (Updated income tax after UTM change wage type) in the Cumulation WT field.
  • You enter MDRH (R. Income Tax (Orig.)wage type) in the Wage Type field.
  • You enter 01.01.1900 in the Start Date field.
  • You enter 31.12.9999 in the End Date field.

You trigger a reliquidation in December. The system performs the calculation by means on the PY CL Reliquidation (CLRLQ) function. In the calculation process, the system generates wage types according to the settings you have made in the preceding Customizing activities (see Prerequisites section above).

In the last period (December), the calculated amounts are as follows:

  • Income tax deduction beforeadjustment by UTM (MDRH wage type) = CLP 6,000
  • Income tax deduction afteradjustment by UTM (MDRI wage type) = CLP 9,000

The system calculates the Tax difference due to UTM ( /TTD wage type) = 9,000 - 6,000

/TTD = CLP 3,000

The system deducts the following amounts from the employee's salary:

  • Income tax deduction beforeadjustment by UTM (MDRH wage type) = CLP 6,000
  • Tax difference due to UTM (/TTD wage type ) = CLP 3,000

The total deduction equals CLP 9,000.
