Set Up Transfer with eSTATISTIK.core

Set up the HTTPS connection necessary for transferring statistical data between the SAP system and eSTATISTIK.core.

You must carry out two substeps to set up the connection. First of all, an SSL client is required in order to set up the HTTPS connection (transaction STRUST). This contains the eSTATISTIK.core server certificate required for setting up the connection. Then create a HTTPS connection (transaction SM59, connection type G). The previously created SSL client is then included in this.

Both steps are described in detail below.

1. Create the SSL client certificates in Trust Manager

You require an SSL client with a server certificate for communication with the eSTATISTIK.core server.

  1. Download the required server certificate from the website of the Federal Statistical Offices. For more information, see SAP Note 3120368 - B2A: SSL client - server certificate for eSTATISTIK.core.
  2. Launch transaction STRUST and switch to change mode.
  3. Check in the menu under Environment -> SSL Client Identities to see if an SSL client ID for eSTATISTIK.core, for example with the name ECORE has already been downloaded.
  4. If the entry is available, check if the SSL client already contains the current server certificate. If it is available, you don’t have to carry out the following steps to create the SSL client.
  5. If the SSL client identity is no longer available, change to start mode. Choose New Entries and create a new entry. For easy identification, we recommend that you create an ID and description related to eSTATISTIK.core. Enter the following values:
  • Identity: ECORE

  • Description: eSTATISTIK.core

  • Save the entry.
(If the entry is available, check if the SSL client already contains the current server certificate.)

  1. Go back to the Trust Manager.
  2. Find the new entry in the tree (on the left). Example: SSL client eSTATISTIK.core
  3. Create a certificate (PSE file) for the SSL client. To do so, double-click the entry. In the context menu (right-click), choose Create.
We recommend the following parameters for the certificate and the DN (Distinguished Name):
  • Name: SSL client eSTATISTIK.core

  • Org.(opt): <Your department>

  • Company/Org.: <Your company>

  • CA: <Default value suggested by SAP system>

  • Algorithm: RSA

  • Key strength: 2048

  • Signature algorithm: SHA256

  1. In the overview, select the SSL client again. The certificate is displayed with details about the previous point.
  2. Go to change mode and import the server certificate you previously downloaded from the website to the certificate list. In the menu, choose Certificate -> Import and select the file (*.crt). Details are then displayed in the Certificate overview (bottom right). Add the certificate to the certificate list using pushbutton Add to Certificate List.
  3. Save the server certificate using the “Save” pushbutton.

2. Create the HTTPS Connection

Data exchange between the SAP system and the eSTATISTIK.core server is done using a HTTPS connection. To create the connection, proceed as follows:

  1. Launch transaction SM59 and choose Save.
  2. Enter the following values:
  • RFC destination: HR_DE_ECORE
(If you choose another name for the RFC destination, include it in constant HTTPC of table T50BK (area EH, document type OVM).

  • Connection type: G

  • Description: HTTPS eSTATISTIK.core

  1. Choose Enter. Additional tabs/fields are then displayed.
  2. Entries on the Technical Settings tab page:
  • Target machine (host): core.estatistik.de

  • Service number (Port): 443

  • Path prefix: /core/

  • HTTP proxy options: Check if you require individual proxy data and, if necessary, enter this data.

  1. Entries on the Logon & Security tab:
Under Security Options, activate the SSL point and choose the previously created SSL certificate (“SSL client”) under SSL certificate.
    Example: ECORE eSTATISTIK.core
  2. Save your entries.
  3. Choose Connection Test to test your connection. The connection test should return the code 200.
