SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity you change the payroll calculation from the deferred period to current period. Therefore, you are changing situation Changing deferred period to current period (SMDTR).

Note
Situation SMDTR will only take place in your system if your payroll calculation is made for the deferred period. If your calculation is for the current period, this situation will not have any effect in your system.

The behavior of the SAP defered period defers absence basis and benefits, and allows practices such as the registration of absences basis in the master data which has been carried out in the period subsequent to the actual date. Nevertheless, the change to current period is necessary in the system because these practices are not compatible with the technical rules of certain functionalities of the Spanish payroll.

For example, according to the technical rules of the Direct Payment System (SLD), the companies have to send the actual dates of all absence bases although the deferral of the benefits is possible. The registration of the bases in the period subsequent to its actual date is not compatible with the technical rules because the SLD requests the registration of the bases in the master data, in the same payment period.

If you change the payroll to the current period, the system becomes compatible with the SLD technical rules because you have torecord the absence bases in the same payment period. If you do not change from deferred period to current period, the Social Insurance can reject the SLD files that you submit because the absence bases dates of the file do not match the actual dates.

Note
Take into account that the change to current period is only applied to absence basis and benefits, but not necessarily to other payment types (such as overtime or credited retribution items).

In the standard system, the values and dates that you enter in situation SMDTR affect the behavior of payroll calculation function Transfer of TI payrolls of previous period to TI table P.D. (ELRD). This happens because the system needs to recover the benefits deferred in the previous period although the absence basis and the benefits are not deferred during the change from deferred month to current period.

Change the option of situation SMDTR according to your needs.

  • 0 - Active deferred period
You enter the period in which the deferred period is active in your system. SAP recommends that the validity dates indicate from 01.01.1900 until the last day of the month of deferred period use.
In this option, the behavior of function ELRD does not change.
  • 1 - Change to current period
You enter the period of change from deferred period to current period. SAP recommends that the validity dates indicate from he first to the last day in which the change is made.
In this option, function ELRD recovers the allowances of the previous period and generates the following wage types:
  • TI benefits absence D.P.(PD10)

  • IAID benefits abs. D.P.(PD20)

The absence bases of the previous period are ignored. Also, the payroll constant Deferred period select. days (SCRDI) is treated as having value 0.
  • 2 - Active current period
You enter the period in which the current period is active in your system. SAP recommends that the validity dates start on the first day of the current period.
In this option, the system does not run function ELRD.
