As of BSI TaxFactory 10.0, BSI allows to enable courtesy withholding at tax authority level.

In this Customizing activity, you maintain courtesy withholding for the relevant tax companies and tax authorities.

The options stored in this activity are sent to BSI TaxFactory via BSI Interface (in parameter 'RC:', line ADC).

For Pennsylvania localities, BSI TaxFactory 10.0 allows you to disable courtesy withholding for employees who live in Pennsylvania but work in another state. However, since in TaxFactory 10.0, courtesy withholding is disabled by default, you only need to make this setting if you have enabled courtesy withholding in BSI Tax Factory. In that case, in this Customizing activity, you can disable courtesy withholding only for employees living in Pennsylvania but working in another state.

BSI defines that the default option in TaxFactory 9.0 is 'allowed', whereas in TaxFactory 10.0 it is 'not allowed'.

Execute this Customizing activity and proceed as follows:

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Make an entry in each of the following fields:
  • Tax Company

  • Tax Authority

  • Start Date

  • End Date

  1. Select the courtesy withholding option as required. For more information, see Courtesy withholding.

The tax level defines the hierarchy level to which a tax authority belongs. When reading the settings you made in this activity, the system first checks if you defined a courtesy withholding option for the tax authority with lower tax level. If not, the system reads the settings made for the tax authority with state tax level only in this Customizing activity. For example, an employee resides in PA01 (tax level D). The system checks is an option was defined for PA01. If not, the system checks if an option was defined for PA (tax level B).
