In this Customizing activity, you specify wage types in which the system stores contributions to specific types of supplementary insurance.

The system uses the wage types to store the contribution amounts that the system calculates during the payroll run and to store the actual contribution amounts that the employer and employee pay.

Note that the contribution amounts that the system calculates using the settings for contribution bases and constants in the Supplementary Insurance (3532) infotype may differ from the contribution amounts that they actually pay into the insurance.

You have defined wage types for storing the calculated and actual contribution amounts for employer and employee contributions.

For each type of supplementary insurance you specify the following wage types:

  • Wage types for employee and employer contributions that the system calculates during the payroll run using the settings in the Supplementary Insurance (3532) infotype.
  • Wage types for the actual amounts of contributions that employees or employers pay into supplementary insurance

You specify in the Supplementary Insurance (3532) infotype that the employer pays both employer and employee contributions.

When you run the payroll, the system first calculates the contribution amounts that the employer and the employee are to pay into the supplementary insurance. It stores these amounts in the wage types that you specify for calculated employer and employee contributions respectively.

However, since the employer is to pay the employee's contribution, when the system calculates the actual contributions that each party pays, the system adds up the employer and employee contributions and stores the result in the wage type that you defined for the actual employer contribution. It does, however, not store any value in the wage type for actual employee contribution.

During the payroll run, the system stores the actual contribution amounts in the following wage types:

Wage Type Contents
Actual employer contribution Both the employer's and employee's contribution - since the employer pays both contributions, the system stores the sum of both contributions in the wage type for the actual employer contribution.
Actual employee contribution Nothing - since the employer pays the employee's contribution, the employee does not make a contribution.
