SAP E-Book

In this section of the Implementation Guide, you make settings for the Leave Request Web application.

Note
Your employees can use this Web application to record not only absences that are stored in the system in the Absences infotype (2001), but also attendances that are stored in the Attendances infotype (2002). Because these attendances often have the nature of an absence (such as off-site work or training courses), the documentation and the terminology of the application is restricted to "leave" or "absence."
  • Each employee who is to submit leave requests using the Web application must have a user in the SAP system.
  • A system user name must be entered in the Communication infotype (0105), subtype 0001 (System User Name for SAP Systems).
  • If you want to use the RPTARQEMAIL program to send notifications about ongoing requests to the person who submitted the request and the approver, an e-mail address must be entered for these employees in the Communication infotype (0105), subtype 0010 ( E-Mail).

Here is an overview of the configuration options:

  1. Rule Groups for Types of Leave
Using rule groups you can make separate settings for various groups of employees in the subsequent IMG activities. For example, you can specify that leave requests due to illness are subject to approval only for particular employee groups.
  1. Specify Periods for Leave Requests
In this activity, you specify the periods in which your employees are permitted to submit, change, and cancel requests for leave.
  1. Specify Types of Leave and Parameters
In this IMG activity, you specify all types of leave that can be used in the Web application. At the same time, you specify parameters (such as validity periods or workflow templates) for the types of leave.
  1. Specify Display of Absence Quotas
In this IMG activity, you specify all absence quotas that are to be displayed in the Web application.
  1. Configure Output of Messages
In this IMG activity, you specify which of the messages generated in the background are to be displayed in the Web application. You can enter an alternative text, which is more suitable for the users of the Web application, for each message.
  1. BAdI: Control Processing of Leave Requests
In this activity, you can make additional settings, such as ones to control the workflow.
To be able to do so, you have to implement the PT_ABS_REQ Business Add-In (BAdI).
