Activate Process Observer.

Scope item Order-to-Cash Performance Monitoring (‫BKN) is deprecated. Therefore, SAP recommends that you do not activate and set up scope item BKN. Instead, please use the apps for sales monitoring and analytics. This Customizing activity is the central configuration switch for activating Process Observer in a business client. When you activate Process Observer, the following happens:

  • Business events are added to the Process Observer event queue according to settings in configuration activity 'Create and Maintain Process Definition'
  • The background job SAP_POC_PROCESS_EVENT_QUEUES is scheduled. This job is used for processing business events from the event queue and for updating the process instances in the process log.

By default, Process Observer is deactivated. This means that:

  • Business events are not added to the event queue and the events are not processed or added to the process log.
  • Job SAP_POC_PROCESS_EVENT_QUEUES is not scheduled.

The default settings for job SAP_POC_PROCESS_EVENT_QUEUES is defined in the technical job definition SAP_POC_PROCESS_EVENT_QUEUES. By default, the job is scheduled for one minute so that you get real-time data. However, depending on the business scenario, you can schedule the job for an appropriate interval. To do so, go to transaction SJOBREPO, select the job SAP_POC_PROCESS_EVENT_QUEUES and choose Customize.

You can further manage job SAP_POC_PROCESS_EVENT_QUEUES using transaction SM37. For example, you can review logs or temporarily delete the job.

In the Parameter Value field, enter "X" for parameter POC_ACTIVE.

To deactivate Process Observer, delete "X" and leave the field blank.
