When you simulate a document of a batch record or display it from the archive, the document is temporarily stored in a local file on your computer. This file is deleted when you exit the document.

In this IMG activity, you define the physical path under which the document is stored. This definition is platform-specific. To comply with the security regulations laid down in the guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the pharmaceutical industry, we recommend using a protected directory.

  1. In your file system, create a directory that is protected against changes for the documents of the batch record.
  2. In Customizing for Basis Components, section System Administration -> Platform-Independent File Names choose activity Cross-Client Maintenance of File Names and Paths.
  3. On the Logical File Path Definition screen, select the file path VB_CP_EBR_ARC_PRINT_FILE_DOWNLOAD for the batch record and go to the Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path screen.
  4. Choose the syntax group to which your platform belongs and assign the name of the directory you have created to it.
Note:
A maximum length of at least 32 must have been defined for the syntax group in the Definition of Syntax Groups view.
  1. Save your entries.
