If you create an interactive report in the WebClient UI, you can use the button Preview Without Business Filters in addition to the Preview button, if you want to check the report characteristics that have already been defined.

This button is used for testing purposes only. It enables you to view a preview, which is not dependent on any business filters, which are observed in the standard preview and may therefore produce an empty results list. This means that for example the following restrictions are not observed:

  • Employee responsible
  • Sales organization of the employee responsible
  • Marketing organization
  • Access control rules

Note:

To avoid long runtimes and a potential timeout for the function Preview Without Business Filters, you can restrict the amount of data read in the user profile using the user parameter /CRMBW/PWF_MAXHITS .

This parameter is used as follows:

  • If the parameter is not set, the system uses 100 (= default value).
  • If the parameter value is an integer greater than zero, the system restricts the amount of data read from the database for this user according to this integer. Note that the number of result rows displayed in the WebClient UI does not always correspond to the parameter value entered and may be higher or lower than this number. Observe the following examples for interactive reports that are not based on SAP HANA VDM:
  • Parameter value = 100, 8 sales documents exist

If no characteristics and no key figures have been requested for items, the system displays exactly 8 result rows if you have not defined any additional filters.
  • Parameter value = 5, 10 sales documents exist that each have 3 items with different products.

If the sales document and product have been requested, the system displays exactly 15 result rows if you have not defined any additional filters.
  • If you entered an implausible value as a parameter value (smaller than zero, not an integer, invalid character), the system executes this function without restricting the amount of data to be read.

Caution:

  • If a user has started a preview without business filters and, during the data retrieval starts a standard preview in another session of the same CRM system, for the same report area, this standard preview can respond as a preview without business filters.
  • If a user has started a preview without business filters during which an irregular interruption (for example a dump) occurred, the next standard preview for the same user and the same report area, in the same CRM system, can respond as a preview without business filters.
If this is the case, clear table /CRMBW/PWF_PAIRS by calling function module /CRMBW/PWF_CLEAR_SPECIFIC (transaction SE37).

To ensure that the Preview Without Business Filters button is displayed, you must ensure that the following prerequisite is met: The user has authorization for activity 16 (Execute) for the authorization object CRM_OR_PWF.

You can display this authorization object as follows: Call transaction SE80 -> Repository Information System -> Other Objects -> Authorization Objects.
