In some countries such as the USA, Brazil and India, the tax origin influences the tax calculation as it can affect the applicable tax and exemption rates.

The tax origin is a product attribute and is entered in the input document under Product.

Origin = Exported

Company B located in Brazil exports and sells domestically produced sugar to the USA.

Origin = Imported

Company A located in the USA imports sugar from Brazil and sells it in the USA.

Company A located in the USA imports sugar from Brazil and exports and sells it to Germany.

Origin = Domestic

Company A located in the USA purchases sugar in the USA and sells it in the USA.

Origin = Imported Product Obtained Domestically

Company A located in the USA purchases sugar from a wholesaler in the USA and exports sugar to Germany.The wholesaler in the USA imported the sugar from Brazil.

Origin = Imported Product Obtained Internationally

Company A located in the USA purchases sugar from Canada and exports it to Germany. The wholesaler in Canada imported the sugar from Brazil.

Complete the activities in the order given and execute:

Validate Customizing Settings

Simulate Tax Determination and Tax Calculationto test Customizing settings.

Immediate Customizing Refresh for Customizing update.
