In this Customizing activity, you can assign an indicator for pay scale area to a pay scale type.

The indicator of the pay scale area (for example, B Federal, Lstate, K KR, V VKA, or D DNeuG) is used for various functions and calculations to implement special features or special requirements.

For example, the indicator for screen control of the infotype for basic pay in the public sector (infotype 0008) is used for civil servants if dynpro 2003 has been selected for them using Customizing activity Maintain 'Basic Pay' (0008) Infotype Screen Control for Public Sector.

In the standard settings for this dynpro, the pay seniority or reference pay seniority (BDA) fields and several other fields are used to automatically determine the pay scale level.

Due to changes to public services regulations, for example those for the Federal state (Service Regulations Readjustment Act DNeuG), it is no longer necessary to determine the pay scale level based on the BDA. The pay scale level now has to be manually specified. Further control possibilities are also necessary for the pay scale level increase.

Here is a list of the differences:

Field Using BDAs Not using BDAs
BDA Available Not available
Pay scale level Not ready for input Ready for input
Advance grant Available Not available
Case group catalog Available Not available
Case group Available Not available
Spouse indicator Available Not available
Variable argument increase Not available Available
Date of next increase Not available Available
Start date of current level Not available Available
Comparison pay scale type Not available Available
Comparison pay scale area Not available Available

If you assign indicator D to your pay scale type (DNeuG), the variant will be considered without using the BDA.

Note that this indicator also has other control functions, in particular when using pension administration. If you do not belong to this area of the Federal state (DNeuG), do not use indicator D for screen control of basic pay here. In this case, use the subsequent Customizing activity BAdI: Control of Ready for Input Status BDA Depending on Pay Scale Type.
