In this Customizing activity, by leveled definitions of job group, job cluster and category series; you define the job matrix in the public sector.

Each entry in this matrix defines a job from the following perspectives:

  • Title or hierarchical level
  • Expected income
  • Work content or function description
  • Industry or section in the public sector

When you define positions in your organization, you can directly assign an appropriate job classification entry in this matrix.

  1. Define job categories. These categories form a database of possible hierarchical levels or titles in various types of organizations.
  2. Define job grades. A job grade indicates the level of an employee's salary.
  3. Define general job groups. A general job group includes all the jobs in a certain industry or a certain sector. For example, job group of education, job group of the diplomatic section, job group for employee handling religious issues and so on.
A job group uses a job cluster to categorize jobs in a certain sub-section. Each job cluster includes several category descriptions. You can assign the pay scale area and the pay scale type to each category.
  1. Define job classifications. In the final step, you assign the pre-defined job grades and job categories to each job function in every general job group. You can configure a series of promotion criteria for an employee to move to the configured job, such as minimum service duration, seniority, and academic degrees.
